AAP Health Sector organized an event titled, “Training of Trainers (ToT)” from 13- 15th November 2019 in collaboration with UNICEF, Lady Health Workers (LHW) and Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) Programs on integrated parenting education package in Karachi, Sindh. The purpose of the 3-day event was to prepare a pool of provincial and divisional trainers that would be rolled out through various existing platforms such as: Lady Health Workers, Community Health Workers; Family Care Workers/Social Workers, Health and Nutrition facilitators, Teachers, Civil Society Organizations and Faith Based Organizations and mass media in the province.
After receiving the training these frontline workers will cascade down knowledge and information to parents, caregivers, families and communities about positive parenting and importance of nurturing and responsive care from the early years of a child’s life.
Keeping in view a life course approach (conception to eight years of age), UNICEF has developed an integrated parenting education package. The package also includes the nurturing and responsive care in the interventions being provided through different services such as health and nutrition. This training will help in sensitizing parents, caregivers, families and communities on devastating consequence of violent punishment meted out as a form of discipline and help in creating conducive environment for better development of child.
